Empowering Children,
Supporting Educators
Our Mission
There’s a lot at stake for the next generation.
In the last century childhood has gotten more and more complicated:
- The digital presence in everyday life
- The rapid development of artificial intelligence
- The growing role of technology in government, private enterprise, most jobs, and education
- Less concrete learning/ more computer learning
- Less physical activity/ more sedentary activity
- Less customization/ more homogenization
- Fewer questions/ more directions
- Less direct communication/ more social media
- Less creative stimulation/ more intellectual stagnation
- Less scheduling flexibility/ more micromanagement
This site was created to serve as a resource for parents, teachers, and students. We at BEFK believe in the ‘do no harm’ axiom, and providing useful information in a ‘could, not should’ format. We offer a continually-growing collection of Book Lists, Manipulative Lists, Video and Program lists, Lesson Lists, e-books, Educational articles, Instructional Materials, Curriculum Guidance, and a variety of other resources, many of which are free.
We place great value here on the notion of freedom in education, and the ability of parents, teachers, and students to access the tools they need anywhere. We believe in innate curiosity and the ability of most children to manage their own interests with the help of trusted adults to serve as mentors, resources, and more experienced travelers on the twists and turns of life’s roads.
Welcome to the site! 🙂
